Airou the Cat Papercraft by Lyrin-83 Airou the Cat Papercraft by Lyrin-83
... And a full body portrait of this one:

I've taken a little pause from PokePapercraft, and gave a try at this Monster Hunter cat. I've never played MH so far, so I'm not a fan of the series and therefore I know no backstory of this character... But it's a cat, it has a huge weapon, and has green armour with PAWPRINTS! I had to build it, of course!
The only infos I've found on this cat with my poor Googlefu skills is that it's called Airou (probably it's the species name, but not sure)... So if you do know more, tell me!

The papercraft model is by Pongoo, and I found it on a certain imageboard. It can be downloaded here: [link]
Stand by the awesome Brandon! :D Thank you!!!

EDIT: The link to the original PONGOO model is now broken... So, for the ones that asked me to upload it, I can give you the pdo, but with my unfolding, and not the original one by PONGOO. I reunfolded the model to suit better my building method, but forgot to save the original one too... I'm lame, I know... O.O;
Btw, here it is: [link]

EDIT2: Found another link with the original PONGOO unfolding: [link]

Hi, which paper do you use? I'm searching for a good paper and i can't figure out which one is the best to build papercraft models. Glossy? Matte? Textured? Photo paper?
Could you give me a little help? >.<
(Sorry for my english, my native language is portuguese)
Thank you!

Lyrin! You need to play Monster Hunter! I got the one for Wii and I'm pretty sure I'm addicted. xD
It's like Pokemon but instead of catching things you.. kill them :D

So I guess you like it, right? :D
Dunno, I wanted to buy it as soon as it came out, but I'm new to the franchise, and the game seems a bit hard for me... But then again, I might pick this up if you say it's SOOO good! :D (Poor monsters! ;P)
Well, if I pick this up, we must swap friends codes and go hunting together! :D

It's really complicated at first, and it gets frustrating sometimes, but I say it's worth it! The game is huge, really long story line and a whole MMORPG in one disk.. I just ordered a wifi adapter so I can play online. Can't wait :D

Do you mean you can't open it? You need pepakura viewer (freeware) to open and print it. There are no jpg s around of the Felyne. You'll need pepakura in order to build it, it's not a simple craft.

I have just tried and it came out pretty appalling, haha. White lines everywhere!

Do you score, out of interest, or smooth? I must admit, I'm adamant about this now. I want to get as good as you guys, I've seen your website/forums :P

I do like the polygonal look you get with scoring, but sometimes sharp folds show the white of the paper underneath, and it's pretty unsightly.

Well, yeah, the first papercraft attempts are always a bit unconvincing. I still go *ewww* every time I look closely at my first ones! :D
I used to score each and every fold line, but I started to go with the smooth looking builds now. They look better and they take less time (scoring takes so much time). Of course there are lines that must always be scored. Usually, scoring/folding valley lines is necessary.
Btw, use a dried up ballpen to score, and not a cutter. And don't fold sharply, just bend the paper a bit along the lines. That way you'll have almost no white lines! ;P

I went from a scalpel to a pin (not the point, the flat side). It's better, but still leaves pretty wrinkly lines. But, I'll keep trying, thanks :P

I epically failed at Poochyena, it's disgraceful, so I figure the way I'm going to tackle this problem is to do a Latios. Go logic. I'm trying to be more careful so I'll see how it goes, hooray for the deep end.

This looks WAY better than it did on /po/ - I would actually consider making this myself if it weren't for the fact that I actually have no idea what it is and why it's got a sythe, lol!

Amazing and beautiful build!
