The Hero of Time - Papercraft by Lyrin-83 The Hero of Time - Papercraft by Lyrin-83
Yay! At last I've managed to do the Oot Young Link papercraft! It's the first difficult papercraft I've done, so I'm pretty happy! This is also the first papercraft I attempted to do... But it was a complete failure, 'cause I used wrong paper and messed up the head construction. I was depressed, so I stopped making it and tried with other things. But now I decided to retry, and this time I completed it! I know it's far from perfect, but I love it anyway! ~

Thanks to ~ninjatoespapercraft who designed it!
You can download the template from his website [link]

Ah, I've also uploaded the "making of" of this model here: [link]

is papercraft hard?

No, it isn't hard. You just need to start with some simple models, tho, and then moving forward to more articulated ones.
This one, for example, isn't for beginners. I can say that because I started with this model, but failed. I retried this after I built simpler models, in order to get the hang of the papercrafring processes! :D

lol!
It depends on the model! Simpler ones take some hours, while complicared ones take more time. This one, I think it took me two/three days (not building the entire day, of course! XD)

When you fold the paper what do you use to get such straight edges? I sit there with my finger nails and it's on stock paper and I get ugly creases and all that weird junk. Wondering if you had a better method. Im using your "making of" and it's been a lot of help!! Thank you and excellent job. Looks great!!

Thanks a lot!!!
I always score the template before folding. I used to do it with a cutter, but the result was not so good, because of the white lines it left. So now I'm using an embossing tool, which essentially is a pointy thing that leaves an indent on the paper but doesn't scratch the color away. You can use a dried up ballpen instead of the embossing tool. Just check it's really dried up! ;P This way the folds are straight and perfect! I hope this will help! :D

Only cause I want perfection. Let's say I have a dried up pen, now I would just press real hard on the place I wanted folded? Which essentially makes it easier to fold? Sorry I am very naive, I don't know what scoring means.

No prob!
Ok, you've got this line on the template that needs to be folded. Take a ruler, put it on the line, and pass the dried up ballpen on it, pressing a bit while doing it. Now the paper has a little dent on that line, so when you fold it, it will be really simple to do so.
I hope now it's clearer! Feel free to ask again, btw!

Haha thank you so much!!
I was havin such a hard time with the rihght side of Links hair cause there was a lot of folding. I used your advice on the other side...it was easier quicker and even looked so much better!! I didnt have a ruler but when I get one Ill add that! Thank you so much!!

"Far from perfect", she says... ;o)

It's looking great, it says something that you liked it so much that you would rather stop and try again instead of settling for something you're not happy with, that's a big compliment for me, so thank you for that!

Yes! I liked it very much!
And in fact I had already built a head with cap, the torso and an arm, but they were terrible, so I trashed them and redid the whole thing!
Really thanks for the compliments!
Now I'd like to try with the wolf link, but it looks a lot more difficult than this, so maybe I'll wait a bit before beginning it!

You're right Wolf Link is more difficult than young Link. There are several small parts that can be fiddly to handle (mainly the teeth, that some people just decide not to build ;o)
The hair can be a bit confusing as well, but if you make one strand of hair at a time, take your time and follow the instructions closely, I'm sure you can manage! Have fun!

Yes, I remember seeing the teeth and saying: oh my god, so small!!!
But I know that I'll start it eventually, cannot resist temptation!!! :D

Zelda Ocarina of Time è quasi leggendario come gioco :)

Peccato!
In compenso ho un peluche di Mokona bianca! Ma ancora mi pento di non aver comprato anche il mokona nero ;_;
